PLAN | Sustainable Design Assistance Team  to Visit Route 51

A group of 7 municipalities along 16 miles of Route 51 from the Liberty Tunnel to Elizabeth PA have been looking to prepare a multi-municipal comprehensive plan to address current challenges faced by the Route 51 Corridor.  To assist in the preparation for this effort, the American Institute of Architects will be sending a Sustainable Design Assistance Team (SDAT) to the area.  The SDAT team, composed of architects and planners, will convene in Pittsburgh and meet with these communities for three days, from October 5th through October 7th, and will include public workshops on the 5th and 7th,  and a report of recommendations. More information about the SDAT Program can be found here.

A few volunteers are needed to record notes at meetings and/or create simple sketches that illustrate design concepts for the SDAT team.  Volunteer's time can range from 1 hour to a full day of participation or more if interested.  Please contact Jen Bee, AIA for more info.

ASSISTANCE | Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council

The CDCP recently assisted the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council (GPLC) in exploring options for expanding their fifth floor facilities at 411 Seventh Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh. Working with GPLC staff representatives who served on the Space Planning Advisory Team, CDCP conducted individual staff interviews and led a series of working sessions to develop alternatives for review. The effort produced a preferred concept plan and preliminary budget needed for GPLC to move on to the next stages of planning their expansion.
