TOOLS | City Unveils PGHSNAP and PGHGIS

The City of Pittsburgh Department of City Planning recently launched PGHSNAP and PGHGIS as the latest tools for community development in Pittsburgh. PGHSNAP is a comprehensive source for a variety of facts and figures about Pittsburgh neighborhoods including demographics, locations of community assets like public art, historic buildings and parks, and land use data. Along with PGHGIS, an interactive mapping tool, PGHSNAP is available for free and will prove valuable in making strategic decisions at the neighborhood level. PARTNERSHIP | Carnegie Museum of Art's "Imagining Home" Exhibit

The Carnegie Museum of Art will unveil it's latest exhibition, "Imagining Home" on Saturday February 27th. The exhibit will explore the range of styles in residential architecture, innovative construction technologies, interiors, company-built housing, and the modern and contemporary house. The RenPlan® program will take part in the "House-Warming Weekend", March 26 and 27. RenPlan® volunteers will be on hand  to provide 15-minute consultations on Saturday March 27th from 12 to 4pm. UPDATE | "Allegheny Restores" Continues Work in Bridgeville and Verona

 

Building owners in Bridgeville and Verona will begin working with CDCP Design Fund-qualified architectural firms to initiate facade restoration plans through Allegheny Restores - a project of the Allegheny County Economic Development's Allegheny Together program. This program encourages well-designed and targeted investment; along with respect for the unique history, character, and built environment in Allegheny County's established commercial districts. The CDCP joined project partners Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation and Town Center Associates in supporting this program.

OUTREACH | CDCP Staff to Present at American Society of Landscape Architects Annual Meeting

Community Programs Manager, Kate McGlynn and Community Project Services Manager, Andrea Lavin Kossis, will be presenting at the Pennsylvania Delaware Chapter of American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Annual Meeting on Saturday March 6.The purpose of the Chapter is to advance knowledge, education, and skill in the art and science of landscape architecture as an instrument of service in the public welfare. The session will focus on working with non-profits and design professionals and will highlight the CDCP's technical assistance and education efforts.
