UPDATE | Pittsburgh's Comprehensive Plan Begins Cultural Heritage Component

The City of Pittsburgh Planning Department is launching the next component of the Comprehensive Plan which will focus on Pittsburgh's cultural heritage. This component, known as PRESERVEPGH, will identify historic and cultural assets, will consider the issues and opportunities associated with these resources, and will identify strategies for appropriate use, conservation, and preservation. Preliminary public meetings will be held on Thursday April 15 from 6-8pm at the James Center and on Monday April 19 from 6-8pm at the New Hazlett Theater. An online public opinion survey concerning historic and cultural assets is also available here.

ACTION | On May 15th, Pop In... and See What Makes the Hilltop Pop Up!

On Saturday May 15th, Pop Up Pittsburgh! Up on the Hilltop, will take on Warrington Avenue between Arlington and Beltzhoover Avenues, from 1-5pm. Taking a page from Planner Terry Schwarz, Pop Up Pittsburgh! (now in its second  year) is the class project of Leadership Development Initiative - LDI (a program of Leadership Pittsburgh Inc.) that highlights the assets of a local neighborhood (last year was Uptown) in a one-day community space for innovative and creative thinking. Pop Up Pittsburgh! Up on the Hilltop will challenge the current LDI class, comprised of 52 young professionals, to engage 9 city neighborhoods and one borough, stakeholders and residents in thinking about their neighborhood differently and encourage outsiders to experience the community's current assets and potential. Pop Up Pittsburgh! Up on the Hilltop is a unique opportunity for the LDI XVII class to become a part of the initial strategic vision for the Hilltop Community. LPInc. guarantees Pop Up Pittsburgh! Up on the Hilltop will be unlike any community festival you've ever attended! Pop Up Pittsburgh! Up on the Hilltop is a partnership with the Pittsburgh Partnership for Neighborhood Development and the Pittsburgh Community Development Collaborative.
